It Could Actually Happen

There aren?t many movies that I don?t completely understand yet still enjoy. That said, perhaps ?enjoy? isn?t the best word for The Road. The word ?enjoy? conjures up images of happiness. That is definitely not the case with The Road. This movie is about the apocalypse. While we don?t know why the world ended ? at least I didn?t catch it ? the intensity is at an extremely high level. What makes this especially interesting is that it?s done without special effects. It?s actually the silence and real sounds that make it so creepy. For instance, when the cannibals are searching for people to eat and a man and his son are simply trying to survive by hiding in the woods on the roadside, your heart races pretty darn fast.

I think I?m happy to have caught this movie on tv-by-direct recently. It was definitely great. The only reason I say ?I think? I was happy to have seen it is because it was disturbing. Then again, it should be seen ? just in case. It shows what the world and the people in it would be like if everything came to a sudden end. It shows what life without law would be like. And to tell you the truth, it?s really scary. What makes it even scarier is that if the economy doesn?t improve and the police force can?t afford to be paid, it?s not an impossible scenario. These potentially realistic-type movies are really the scariest. They put your mind in a place you don?t want it to be yet you know you have to look inside.

If you don?t want to know the ending, stop reading here. If you want to have a hint at the ending, then all I will say is that while it?s bittersweet, it?s more sweet than bitter. It was surprising to see a happy ending here, and it was greatly appreciated.
